Should I make a reservation?

Maybe! While it is not necessary, certain times during the year we have limited availability of storage units. Reservations reserve the unit for a 7 day period only but come at an additional cost of a reservation fee which varies by unit. After the 7-day reservation period, your reservation expires if you have not entered into a lease agreement. If you are out-of-town and need to be assured of a storage unit on a specific date, reservations are a wise choice. If you can check on availability on a regular basis you might want to forgo the reservation and fee.

What are your hours of operation?


Blue Sky Self Storage: is a year round, 7 days a week storage facility. Gate Access hours are 6am –8pm, 24 hour access is available to approved customers for an additional fee of $15.00 per month.
Latah Mini Storage: is a year round, 7 days a week storage facility. Open 24/7 with keyed access to interior hallways.
GarageMahal, Warehouse and Workshops: is open year round, 24/7. with controlled gate access to premises.
KIP Development Rental Office: The office is open Monday-Friday from 9am – 5pm. Closed typical holidays. Also open by special appointment. To make an appointment please call 509-334-7444.

What type of documentation do I need to lease a storage space?

Mini Storage Unit: You will need a valid driver’s license or federal ID with picture to lease a mini storage unit.
Vehicle and RV Storage: you will need a valid driver’s license or federal ID with picture, current registration, and proof of insurance on all vehicles including trailers.
Warehouse or Workshop: Valid and acceptable ID and credit

Do I need insurance?

Yes, You may carry your own insurance (check your homeowner’s or renter’s policy, you may be already covered) or apply for insurance coverage from a company that specializes in self-storage insurance.
Our rental office has applications for such insurance coverage, which is available to purchase from a third-party Insurance Company at the time of renting the storage unit when you rent a storage unit from our Blue Sky Self Storage facility.

Insurance is the occupants responsibility. The storage facility does not provide any insurance coverage for your stored items. Insurance requirements vary with location, please call office for details. We also offer insurance coverage at some locations for a small additional fee per month.

All stored vehicles, RV’s, watercraft or trailers must supply proof of insurance coverage.

What type of security do you provide?

Blue Sky Self Storage: We provide computer controlled gate access with individual PIN numbers, a fully lit facility, tracking of all entries to facility recording of all PIN entry code numbers, and regular property inspections of facility by staff. We also monitor the premises with security cameras
Latah Mini Storage: We provide a fully lite facility, controlled keyed access to hallways and apartment residents on site 24/7
GarageMahal: We provide computer controlled gate access with individual PIN numbers, a fully lit facility, tracking of all entries to facility recording of all PIN entry code numbers, and regular property inspections of facility by staff.  

What type of payment do you accept?


Blue Sky Self Storage:We accept ACH Bank transfers, debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash and checks.
Latah Mini Storage: We accept ACH Bank transfers, debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, cash and checks.
GarageMahal: We accept ACH Bank transfers, debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash and checks.

When is rent due?

Rent is always due on the first of the month and late after the 5th day of the month. Rent payments received after the 5th day of each month will be charged a late fee and the storage unit will be subject to over-lock.

Where should I send payment?

Rent payments may be made online at this web site: Login and create an account. Details available at our storage site web pages, you may pay by debit, ACH transfer or credit card online.

What happens if the gate won't open with my access code?

Computer controlled access systems unfortunately are not without glitches and sometimes there may be trouble.

  1. First make sure you are aware of the time of day and the gate access hours. (Blue Sky Self Storage The gate will not work after hours, 6am-8pm without a special access code approved for 24-hour access.)
  2. Second make sure your rental account is current. The computer access control will automatically lock you out if you are late on a rent payment or if you have a balance past due on your account. If you are certain your account is current, make sure you are entering the number correctly (?????*, the five digit PIN code followed by a *)
